Air Compressor Hose guide

How to Select an Air Compressor Hose

We’ve listed the most important factors to consider when selecting an air compressor hose to help you along the way. For the sake of clarity, these have been divided into four steps.

Step 1: Determine the appropriate length:-

All lengths are acceptable. The most important thing to remember is to select the appropriate length. Determine the distance between the hose connection to the wall and the furthest point of use. The greater the pressure drop, the longer the hose. For maximum performance and minimal pressure drop, use the shortest hose possible. However, ensure that the air compressor hose is long enough to reach its full working range without being stretched, and leave an extra meter or two for unexpected situations.

Step 2: Find the proper inside diameter:-

The greater the airflow, the greater the inside diameter. Inside diameter sizing should be determined by the length of the compressed air hose and the air consumption of the pneumatic tool or equipment. Avoid oversizing the hose: a larger hose is more rigid and heavier.

Step 3: Recognize the pressure:-

The maximum working pressure of all hoses is not the same. You must make certain that the air pressure entering the hose from your air system does not exceed the hose’s resistance. Otherwise, the hose may rupture. You should also ensure that the hose’s maximum working pressure is greater than the working pressure of your tool or equipment. This ensures that the tool receives the proper amount of air pressure to function properly. A regulator can lower hose pressure to a level lower than the system’s air pressure. However, regulator settings can be easily altered. The most secure approach is to choose an air compressor hose based on the fact that the flexible air hose will receive its air supply at the compressed air system’s pressure.
